Rahaan - Rahaan Presents Chicago's Club Culture Volume 3

Alongside New York's Danny Krivit, Chicago's Rahaan is one of the finest re-editors around - as he has emphatically proved thanks to a slew of superb rework releases over the last two decades. Here he continues his exploration of Windy City musical culture via a third set of edits of 'Chicago Club Classics'. First up is 'Weekend Love', a richly percussive and stretched-out slab of synth-splashed turn-of-the 80s disco. It's followed on record one by the slow-build, Bee Gees-style disco of 'Hangin' On' and the low-slung, lightly dubbed disco-funk of 'Memories (Version)'. Over on the second 12, Rahaan reworks 'On & On', paying to tribute to Jesse Saunders in the process, alongside 'Number & Dime' (a tweak of a NY Skyy favourite) and the starry, electric piano-laden jazz-funk/disco-fusion of 'Welcome To The Club (instrumental)'.
