N-Zino - Music & Territory Part III

N-Zino closes out the 'Music & Territory' trilogy with another quartet of deep house sounds that would be impossible to date if you were blind tested. The 'Classic Mix' of the soul gem 'Your X' keeps things stripped and hypnotic, all rolling groove and function with the yearning vocal left intact, but slowed for extra impact. The 'Organic Mix' opens the same track up into something warmer and more textured, then the remixes push it further outward: Trinidadian Deep goes deep and spherical as he always does, and it's still a fine trick, while Nico Lahs adds jazz-tinged grit and drive without losing the emotional thread. It's a tight, well-considered package that taps into the power of holding back.
