Julion De'Angelo - These Hands

Newcastle-based Hot Biscuit Recordings welcomes a new scalpel-wielding producer to its roster, fast-rising Detroit artist (and sometime Sound Signature contributor) Julion De'Angelo. He opens his first re-edit missive for trhe imprint with 'These Hands', a stretched out and lightly dubbed extension and rearrangement of the sort of heady, Latin-tinged disco-boogie jam most often associated with the likes of Teena Marie and Chaka Khan. It's genuinely excellent all told, delivering just the right blend of heady funkiness and soul-fired sing-along action. Flipside 'Le Beat' sees De'Angelo rearrange a heavy, synth solo-splattered slab of boogie era disco-funk. It's very good, too, and notably heavier than the righteous, life-affirming A-side.
