Rio de Janeiro's master of cosmic tropicalia, Jonas Rocha aka Joutro, teams up with São Paulo underground veteran Bernardo Pinheiro to rework two lost Brazilian gems inna balearic/MPB/acid/dub/street-soul stylee. Hard to categorize but easy to feel, the tracks feature additional keys from Brazil's modern synth whiz, Donatinho (say: Don-ah-cheen-yo), son of the legend, João Donato.
Olá beijoqueiros! Without further ado, we present to you the A side of BDB003 from Joutro & Pinheiro, "Sandra". This deep slice of balearic/acid/dub/MPB.
We love songs that occupy the spaces in between genres, those unique tracks that are hard to classify but easy to feel. The B-side to our new 45 from Joutro & Pinheiro. with elements of street soul, boogie and MPB, certainly fits the bill. "A Noite " takes a lost private press 12" and with the help of Donatinho on synths rebuilds it from the ground up into something completely fresh and new 45rpm small hole 7" on loud, black vinyl.
