Dave Maze - Cosmic Disco
Dave Maze's D&E label has long been one of Chicago's most disco-minded underground imprints, frequently offering up re-edits of dusty old gems alongside new soul, funk and disco influenced deep house gems. As the title suggests, this compilation style EP draws together a mix of edits and original cuts inspired by the more cosmic end of the disco spectrum. Maze kicks things off alongside pal Spike Rebel with the infectious, low-slung, spacey synth-sporting disco-funk excellence of 'Disco Stimulation', before Windy City great Glenn Underground gives his stretched-out and spaced-out interpretation of the same cut ('Jazz-Funk in a Disco Dubb'). Over on side B, Maze drops two heavy edits: the solo-heavy Afro-cosmic disco-goes-jazz-funk brilliance of 'Talk About Music', and the gargantuan cosmic rock/disco fusion on 'Discomania".
