New York rhythmaster Antonio Ocasio aka Tribal Winds is an unsung force of nature, perhaps one too elemental and too good for the world to be recognised - too legit, too mythical to attract due chronicling (so far). Deserve ain't got nothing to do with it: 'A Lover's Dream' is another entry in this artist-label's spiritiually minded corpus, extending that founding moment in 1998 when Tribal Winds first blew the vane of New York deep house in soulful directions. 'A Lover's Dream' pairs warm but clip-saturated vocals and steady soca grooves with vocals from Ed Ramsey, while 'Mwari Wa Maitu' brings a deeper, Afro-spiritual, claving agiliity by way of Tina Ardor's vocal presence. Closing cut 'It's Me', featuring Praiz Fasa, keeps things firmer-rooted in classic deep house, layered claps and exaggerated harmonies aplenty.
