Andrew Macari's 'On My Mind' remix 12? feels like both a nod to his roots and a fresh leap forward; the original, featured here in full with the warmly filtered vocals of Paka Project, already brought Macari's signature deep-house soul. The flip siders, on the other hand, provide the service of hindsight we really craved: the Jason Merle & Belmont Shuffle remix brings hi-hatting differentials and a moody chord core. The inaugural release on Roots, it's a promising statement, and a reminder that the 25-years-of-experience-strong Macari can still leave us staggering.
