Adultnapper - Monitor

Second time around for former Dirt Crew, Mule Electronic and Audiomatique contributor Adultnapper's 2010 single 'Monitor'. Licensed by Tribal Winds, the release celebrates a cult remix of the track from Michele Lopez AKA MKL and one-off studio collective Brooklyn Girls Sound System (BGSS). Their original 2010 revision sits on side A, re-imagining the initially tech-tinged Adultnapper cut as a loose-limbed live instrumental workout - all elastic bass guitar, loose-limbed soul style breaks and jammed-out guitar licks. It's a genuinely stunning rework that feels like it was inspired by Masters at Work's Nuyorican Soul project. Antonio Ocasio delivers a new 'dancefloor edit' of the rework on side B, pitching up the breaks, thickening the bottom end, and adding spacey synth splashes. It does exactly what it promises and then some.
